Chase Your Rainbow ๐
I watched Judy on my free time recently. It's story of Judy Garland, played by Renee Zellwegar. Undeniably talented, Judi Garland rose through the ranks of standard in the 1930s, arguably most well known for her potrayal of Dorothy in the original The Wizard of Oz.
Judy struggled with many ups and downs throughout her lfie, but the fim culminated with one profound and beautiful statement at the very end that I believe shines a light on building a life you love.
Judi explains that one wonderful song embodies the hope she has for the future: somehwere over the rainbow. "It's a place of hope," she explains. And we are walking toward that magical place of hope together. She explains that the joy was found in the journey if she allowed "the walking to be enough."
Our greatest joy isn't found at the top of mountain or even behind the gates of Oz. Rather, joy is found along the bumpy, beautiful, broken yellow-brick road—with every way we grow along the path, and with every battle we fight through, flying monkeys or not.
I fidn it fascinating that this movie came across my screen on that night. as I am finishing my plans and certfification, it is oddly perfect timing for the girl who started with a little dream about a rainbow planner, the unshakeable belief that she could build a life she loved, and the gumption to dare to do it.
I'd like to share a letter that I wrote. A letter from a girl who has faced more and less and different than you have in your life. Whose ubringing was different. Who may look or love or believe differently than you. I am in your corner, cheering you on as you build a life you love.
Dear you,
You are different. You are different than you once were. You are different than the girl next to you. You are different than me. You are wild and unique and gloriously perfect in all those things. God delights in you. How fantastic to have a Father who absolutely adores you.
All those things that you think make you weird?
Those are the traits that make you special! Identify them. Learn in to them. Grow boldly into the woman God is inviting you to be. Believe in who (and whose) you are, imagine that life you dream of. Love all people well. And do what matters; forget the rest. Whether you are building a company, a family, a side hustle, a marriage, a mission, or a home—do the work. And honor the rest.
This is the magic of balance. This is the magic of building a life you love: honoring the ups and the downs, the work and the rest, the gains and the losses.
And above all, allowing the walk to be enough.
Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue and the dreams that you drae to dream really do come true.
Chase your rainbow.
Enjoy the imperfect journey.
Dare to build a life you love.
Love,
Elista
